Haha~ As you can see, Tenel Ka is one of my favorite fictional characters ever, hence all the Tenel Ka costumes. She's been one of my favorites since I was younger and first read the Young Jedi Knight books and it was always sort of a fandomish dream of mine to do one of her costumes. Now I've done a bunch. I love that there's just enough character art of her out there to use for costuming with the ability to get all creative and original with some of the outfits (or just make up some based on her character!)~ XD
As far as lightsabers go, I currently have five Tenel Ka sabers! I made two handles with the help of my sister before 2008 - which I used with all my TK costumes until D*C that year, which was when I got the awesome handle and blade from Nocturne Armory. <3 Before Dragon*Con 2010, I figured I would try my hand at one again, and got a base from Ultra Sabers. You can see better pictures of my current saber (as well as an explanation of what I did) over at my deviantArt page: lightsaber - Tenel Ka Djo. I also found and bought my fifth off of ebay, which was an amazing model of the one she has on the Tempest cover. It's a static prop (no blade), but still completely awesome. :D
[NOTE: these costumes are in the order I made/first wore them in, while all others on the site have been alphabetical by first name]
Jedi Strike Team - New Jedi Order: Star by Star
Worn at: Celebration III (2005), Dragon*Con '10
Status: Active
Group: everyone over at MtM, which will be updated soon to reflect 2010!
Character: Here's the Jedi Strike Team version of Tenel Ka -- this was a project in progress for YEARS. There's more up at Mission to Myrkr on the project. We all basically wore brown jumpsuits with accessories and our own little touches, since that's what it was in the book. XD I had the brown jumpsuit, breath mask, belt, harness straps, lightsaber and giant omg blaster of doom. I also had on the MAGICAL GORT EGGSHELL NECKLACE FROM JACEN SOLO, LOL. This costume featured the first incarnation of a Tenel Ka lightsaber that my sister helped me make. To this day I have made two and I've also bought one. I have a feeling I will end up trying to make another one too, because I am a nerd.
We got to meet the author who wrote this certain book out of the series -- the man who created the Strike Team -- Troy Denning -- while in our costumes. It was awesome. I was so proud of the whole project and much <333 to anyone who was a part of it! :D
This group was done again at Dragon*Con 2010 cause there were people who couldn't make it to CIII and who wanted to take part in the JST craziness. We had a lot of fun and took some really nerdy pictures -- that is why I love them all. Cause we're all on the same geek-level. We also finally had all three Solo kids! XD

Celebration III (2005):
Dragon*Con 2010:

Fun things: Everything! It was so great running around with the group (both times!) and the jumpsuit was actually quite comfy and I can't say enough good things about this costume as a whole. I also love TK's lightsaber, so both versions that I had at CIII and D*C '10 made me giddy. XD
Bad things: The only thing that was kind of crap was the way the lightsaber hung on the belt (at CIII), but after a few utility straps that morning, the whole thing was fixed!

Group: Linh as Hapan handmaiden, Ed as Zekk, Sarah as Tahiri, Jason as Jacen
Character: This is the first Queen version of Tenel Ka that I ended up making. There was no official art of her as a Queen Mother at the time -- so I was planning on making an outfit or two that could be considered royal garb for her. Because she's the Queen of Hapes -- but at the same time not a fan of things that are too formal/fancy -- it was a challenge for me to keep it toned down. XD Much thanks to Linh for wearing her twi'lek outfit as a handmaiden outfit that day so I wouldn't feel funny being the only one in costume. <3333 I ended up wearing the outfit again to Dragon*Con that year because there were going to be other EU costumers in attendance and we all knew we wanted pictures together!

Celebration III (2005):
Dragon*Con 2005:

Fun things: I love the cape thing. I was going to make one, but instead (since time was running out before CIII) my sister was like, "YOU SHOULD JUST GET A CURTAIN!" Yes kids, that cape thing is a curtain. XD
Bad things: I've always wanted to add a few bits and pieces to this costume and wear it again but I've never had the chance. :( I PLAN TO CHANGE THIS.

Status: Active
Group: Jason as Jacen (D*C '06), CloakedSchemer as Jacen/Caedus (AUSA '07, D*C '08), Draelight as Caedus (Katsucon '11) and other EU costumers listed below!
Character: TENEL KA HAS HER OWN BOOK COVER! :O! So after I got over that initial shock, I knew I'd have to costumize it somehow. I had a picture of the top part, obviously -- so it was the bottom I had to figure out. And I love asscapes. You know, the half skirt things. I'm sure there is a more proper name for them, but to me they will always be asscapes. And this was the perfect costume to give one too! MUAH~ I also figured that was fancy enough for a Queen Mother, but easy enough for her to fight in. It also meant I got to show off the boots. The scales on the arms were giving me a hard time, but I have redone them since -- so in the two AUSA pictures, which were taken at Anime USA by the awesome Bob Barker, they look better (and so on after that). ;D
CS and I decided to reprise the Caedus/TK at D*C '08 cause there was a whole big EU group! We had a Jaina (Miss Jaina), an Allana (kayzie), a Tahiri (Jarael), an Alema (Lusa) and Trista (Jill Sparrow) and Taryn (Aphy) Zel! It was a lot of fun and I put up a couple pictures from D*C '08 (bottom group). I redid the asscape (I have a front and back now! :o so I guess it's not really just an asscape now, LOL), and redid the purple top. I also got an awesome replica of Tenel Ka's lightsaber from Nocturne Armory and I love it SO MUCH! <33
For Katsucon 2011, I was going to remake the sleeves and fix the waist capes. I found these awesome scales online and ordered some to fiddle around with. Once I got the hang of them - and spent about a total of ten hours on them (while watching 30 Rock and The Mentalist! XD) - I had a new set of scaled sleeves! My hands hated me after I was finished but I really liked the way they looked. I added a couple thin layers of different shades of green spraypaint to give it some texture (which you can't see in these pictures, unfortuntely - I might add some more) and ended up fixing up the waist capes. I had a lot of fun in the costume at Katsucon (a couple people even knew who Tenel Ka was and was excited, haha XDDD) and Draelight helped me get some shots of the costume in a non-hotel setting! :D

Character: Another Legacy of the Force Tenel Ka costume. This one was described in a whole one or two sentences in Tempest and I just went off of that and went crazy. I wasn't looking forward to making the jumpsuit, but I'm eternally grateful to my Mom cause she helped me a lot with it -- and it actually fit! And omg! I am so proud. Tear. ;-; Heeee, anyways, besides the jumpsuit, my other favorite part is the Hapes Consortium patch. I need to get some better pictures of the costume with it, but it's basically this logo, which is what Tenel Ka rules. I love that patch to death and I'm so glad I got a chance to special order it. XD Also, there is no official picture of this costume, hence me just using another random picture of Tenel Ka here.

Fun things: Being damn proud of the jumpsuit, and then all the little add-ons to the costume. That's as about as fancy as Tenel Ka gets, lol.
Bad things: Nothing really, except being afraid of splitting the jumpsuit somewhere. XD

Group: lots of people!
Character: As you can tell by the fact that I have 9348239084 Tenel Ka costumes on this site, Tenel Ka is one of my favorite characters ever -- and this is the first outfit she ever appears in. It's also one of the first costumes I ever wanted to make. But I had no faith in myself at all. It was like that one costume I wanted to do that I would never be able to. And finally one day I was like, "Screw it, yo! I'M GONNA TRY!!11" And I did! And it might not be the greatest thing in the world, but I'm damn sure proud of it. :D So my childhood costume of yays is done! I'm pretty sure I'll always be fixing it up and adding to it and such too. Hehe~
The second group of pictures are ones I took in May of 2008 (and then again with Nate and Emily in June 2010 with some different pieces), cause I wanted some that weren't in a hotel in Atlanta. Hehe. XD The upper layer of the bolero was being a tool that day so I actually turned it inside out and wore it that way -- and I ended up kind of like the way it turned out, hehe. After that, I ended up wearing it again to D*C in 2009 cause a few of my good EU costuming buddies were doing YJK Jaina, YJK Jacen and JJK Tahiri -- how could I pass it up? XDD!
I'm planning on fixing a few things up on it (redoing the pouch, fixing the gloves, etc.) and wearing it again in the near future. So we'll see how that turns out! This is still, to this day, one of my favorite costumes. :D

Character: Think Hannah Solo (taking an awesome Star Wars male character and turning them into a girl), Goth Leia (taking an awesome Star Wars chick and turning her goth) or Zombie Shmi (taking a dead Star Wars character and making them a zombie) and apply that to SITH TENEL KA (taking an awesome Jedi who wouldn't go bad and turning them Sith) -- that is this costume. A few of us on the old board, Mindbreak thought it would be fun to make Sith versions of some of our favorite Jedi! We had way too much fun and there was lots of corsets, makeup and black clothing, lololol. For Tenel Ka, I used mainly black and a slightly bluish green for all the clothes (kjfkasjdfj the shrug <333) along with dark green makeup and a thorny looking tiara. The boots I used were my Poison Ivy boots, which I had originally spraypainted from black to green, I spraypainted them back to black. I also had beads that looked like teeth on my necklace and in my hair. And of course, THE LIGHTSABERRRR~ XD
As for the other darling Sith women, we had: Anja Gallandro, Tionne, Leia, Mara and Tahiri! It was lots and lots of fun and you know, IT SEETHED EVILLLLLLLL. Sith and all.

Pictures:

Fun things: Hanging with a bunch of hot Sith bitches, lol. <3
Bad things: Most of us trying to breathe that night was really funny. Corsets don't go well with, you know, wanting to breathe.

Character: Yet ANOTHER Tenel Ka outfit! It's so much fun to make TK costumes cause I love the character so much and there's just enough art to base stuff off of, but also gives a lot of creative freedom. I loved the first Queen TK dress I had and wanted to make another one - there's been a couple times where she has been described with sleeveless frocks on, in the Queen Momma days (plus, those are easier to fight in!) so I went with that. It was fun because I got to cheat and wear this one with both Nate's Dark Nest Jacen AND Caedus costumes! And again, random TK picture on the side there, hehe.
The last 4 pictures in the D*C 2010 set were taken by the lovely Christa. You can see the rest of the shots she took here - and you should check her flickr album out there too. She's amazing! <3

Dragon*Con 2010:

Fun things: It's actually really comfy and I love the way the jacket turned out. <3
Bad things: Nothing really! I do want to find a thigh holster for the lightsaber though, hehe.

Character: I based everything around this corset vest I found. It had the heavy print fabric that could totally pass for some royal Hapan stuff and then the scales at the bottom. I wasn't really planning on making a new TK outfit at this point, but I saw this and couldn't pass it up. I figured I wanted to put something together that Tenel Ka could fight in but it was still fancy enough for a Queen Mother outfit. I used the gloves from my YJK outfit and then made the shinguards and the belt, as well as the necklace, armband and circlet. I also got to lug around my lightsaber, which is probably my fourth version of TK's saber (made two handles previously and bought the amazing Nocturne Armory saber) and had its first con appearance at D*C '10, haha~ XD
