[ Misc. Video Game/Anime ]

These are all the costumes that are from other video games and anime and such that don't fit into any other categories. There might be a BioShock category soon if I make some more costumes from that series (which I might XD), but for now here are the miscellaneous VG/Anime costumes. And yeah, I've only done one anime costume ever, hahahah~ XDDD

Worn at: Dragon*Con '09
Status: Active
Group: w/ Aphy as Professor Julie Langford

Character: I absolutely loved Tenenbaum the first time I played BioShock. She was always up against so much and she kept a pretty level head and worried about the Little Sisters (even though she knew she helped create that madness). She is like Mama Hen to them. XD

Once D*C announced their special night at the Georgia Aquarium, Aphy and I knew BioShock costumes would be perfect! Of course, no weapons were allowed (which is totally understandable) which meant our Little Sister and Splicer costumes were out (cause the weapons are one of the best parts!) -- so our next idea was the pair of scientists. Tenenbaum and Langford!

Pictures:

Fun things: Taking pictures in the Georgia Aquarium! They were having a special night for Dragon*Con attendees only and it was the perfect setting.
Bad things: Nothing really. The heels hurt after a bit, which was okay cause I brought flip-flips to change into, lololol. SO NOTHING BAD.

Worn at: Dragon*Con '10
Status: Active
Group: w/ Draelight as Guybrush Threepwood

Character: MONKEY ISLANDDD. <3 This series has always been one of my favorites and Elaine has always been one of my favorite characters - I've wanted to do this costume for years. Thing is, it wouldn't be as much fun without a Guybrush! When Nate played the remake of the first game, he kept saying how silly Guybrush was and I told him I had always wanted to do an Elaine costume HINT HINT. He thought it would be awesome and the first thing he said he needed was a rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle. The best part of this was all the people pointing to Nate and going, "I WANT TO BE A PIRATE!" XD

Pictures:

Fun things: I was surprised at how well the outfit came together. And it was Elaine! <3 I also loved Nate's rubber chicken and his eyeball necklace.
Bad things: We didn't get to wear them long enough! D:

Worn at: Dragon*Con '09
Status: Active
Group: w/ Aphy as zombie & Draelight as Smoker

Character: Woo! The Hunter has always been my favorite special infected and Aphy has always been amazing with makeup. IT'S LIKE A PERFECT MATCH HERE. She sat me and Draelight down and got us all done up in our Hunter and Smoker gear and then put herself in her Mercy Hospital Zombie garb and we were ready to go. We came complete with Smoker tongue, Hunter claws and even a Mercy Hospital badge! The makeup took awhile to do (and awhile to get out of, omglol we won't get into that) but it was definitely worth it for all the fun/insanity that took place while we were in those costumes. I would love to wear it again, but I'm not sure when or where. It would be nice to do a shoot out in the woods or find some fun game-like settings though. :D

Pictures:

Fun things: Kind of sucked getting into and out of all the makeup and claws and junk (which again, looked awesome <3), but once I was walking around in it... it was too much fun. I couldn't touch anything but the looks we got from people (some who had played the game and some who hadn't) we're worth it. There was a spectrum. One end was, "OMG LEFT 4 DEAD THAT IS AWESOME PILLS HERE" to "...what is wrong with them? D:"
Bad things: The claws were an absolute bitch to remove. Aphy sat on the ground in front of the bathroom with me for almost an hour helping me with nail polish remover and crap to get the claws off. Then I had to take a shower and wash all the makeup/latex/color goo off of my face and out of my hair. XDD

Worn at: Katsucon '08, Dragon*Con '08
Status: Active
Group: w/ Aphy as a Splicer

Character: The first time I played BioShock I fell in love with it. Everything about the game is amazing and I thought the Little Sisters were adorable in a very (very, very, very) creepy sort of fashion. And then Katsucon was coming up! So what better costume to do! Muahahaha~ The fabric of the outfit was sort of thin, but that made it easy to rip and ruin, so I couldn't complain too much. And I was so proud of that ADAM needle and had so much fun carrying it around. I wore it again at D*C that year when Aphy was going as a Splicer and we had a whole lot of fun taking pictures. I have discovered that BioShock costumes are some of the most fun to wear -- Aphy and I got stopped by a guy at D*C who wanted to take our picture and he held his camera out and his hand up so it was like a screenshot out of the game! <3

Katsucon 2008:

Dragon*Con 2008:

Fun things: THE NEEDLE! :D Also the makeup. I liked pretty much everything about this outfit.
Bad things: The shoes I wore around at Katsucon. I couldn't walk around barefoot so I wore these clear jelly shoe things and they looked good since I kind of looked barefoot, but they killed the shit out of my feet. :(

Worn at: Tekkoshocon '11
Status: Active
Group: w/ Draelight as Light

Character: Draelight made me sit down and watch Death Note one day after I finished 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors because he said, "If you like stuff with twists like 999 then you should watch Death Note." So I did. And I fell in love with it. Mostly L, heheh. XD I don't know what it was about him. The sweets, the chill attitude, the constant questioning of Light. He was just cool (as was Near, but on a slightly lesser level). I also like Light, even though he was usually a flat out dick. :3 When we decided to go to Tekkoshocon, we knew we were going to bring Layton & Luke with us, but wanted something else to take along. Since these outfits were easy, we said we'd go for it! We put together the long handcuffs from the part in the anime where they're chained together and on a "date" with Misa - so Light's outfit was even easier since it was Light's casual clothes. ALSO, I GOT TO EAT LOLLIPOPS ALL DAY. XD

Pictures:

Fun things: Lollipops. All. Day. XD Also, it was really comfortable.
Bad things: The wig never wanted to cooperate and usually kept creeping off my head. I need to use more bobby pins or invest in some more combs. And I want to fix the wig so it's more spiky.

Worn at: Katsucon '10, Tekkoshocon '11
Status: Active
Group: w/ Draelight as Professor Layton

Character: OH MY GOODNESS. Okay, so my sister, her husband, Draelight and I had all played this game. The subject came up between me and my sister about costumes to do in the future and we joked about Draelight and I doing Layton and Luke costumes -- we said the best part would be the height difference, it would be perfect. When I told him, he laughed and agreed and then both our faces lit up and we realized WE HAD TO DO IT. Plus, Katsucon was coming up! Perfect time! Even better was the fact that where Katsucon was being held (the Gaylord National Harbor), there was a little village right in the atrium! It was the perfect setting for these costumes and had the perfect people around too -- we had a good number of people comment on how much they loved the series and it brightened our day whenever we heard yells of "PROFESSOR!!11" coming down the halls. XD

Tekkoshocon 2011 was the second time Draelight and I wore Luke and Layton (he had heightened his hat!)~ and we had just as much fun that time as we did the first time around. One of our favorite moments was when someone said the height difference worked perfectly! For once I didn't have to complain about being so short! :D We met up with one of our favorite photographers, Katsuya Weller, and she got some shots of us goofing off in our L & L costumes! The ones from Tekkoshocon were taken by her!

Katsucon 2010:

Tekkoshocon 2011:

Fun things: Screaming "PROFESSOR! PROFESSOR" at Nate over and over again. XD
Bad things: The sweater was pretty hot, as was the hat (HAT HAIIRRRRR), but it was worth it.

Worn at: Dragon*Con '10
Status: Active
Group: w/ Draelight as Grave Digger

Character: I absolutely love Brütal Legend. The first time Drowning Doom came on screen I laughed so hard - it was so perfect. When Nate and I were sitting around playing it one night, I mentioned how I love Ophelia's DD design and if I could manage it, I would make a costume. I ended up saying WHY NOT and tried it out, and Ashley was excited to try her hand at the makeup (since her + makeup = otp XD). Nate said he wanted to do a BL costume too but he wasn't buff enough to be Eddie Riggs. Our eyes lit up when we both mentioned the Grave Digger ("This music makes me want to kill myself... in a good way.") -- these were too much fun to wear. <33

Pictures:

Fun things: The makeup once it was done (APHY <333) and the skirt. Also, finding other BL fans! XD
Bad things: The time it took to put the makeup on, haha~ And trying to stand with better posture cause I looked pretty doofy when I slouched over with the neckpiece and next to Nate it made me look even shorter. HE IS A GIANT.

Group: w/ Erin as Mew

Character: Erin and I had been talking about these costumes FOREVER. So finally we figured we'd finish them. I never had the chance to do anything with a wig before Katsucon, which made me a tad emo. Also making me emo was the fact that I had to get in the costume so fast (photoshoot at 4pm and I was lollygagging around in the Mary/Maria costume that day XD) I didn't get to wash my hair and blowdry it and tease it out all fun for the pigtails. D: I was proud of the shorts though (even though they are pretty ghettofab). I've never been good sewing spandex and stretchy things and I was finishing these up the day before the convention and putting the pink stripes on them. When I tried them on I was excited because they fit and actually looked good! I figure I'll fix up this costume with new shorts and a wig and then it can be worn again in all it's Lollerskate glory. Mayhaps we will take pictures with actual skates too. XD

Pictures:

Fun things: I love the colors -- and the fishnets. And the jacket. And the gloves.
Bad things: The hair -- I didn't have time to do anything with it besides throw it up in pigtails. I also didn't get a chance to do all the makeup I wanted. Which is why I must find a way to do it again!

Worn at: Halloween '01
Status: Retired (although I would like to remake it)
Group: N/A

Character: Raven from TM:B was a last minute Halloween costume to scare little kids with (what can I say, I'm horrible D:). At first my sister and I were Jay and Silent Bob, then it was time for something a little different and I changed into this. It was a last minute kind of thing and obviously a tad different than her design (plus I wanted an excuse to wear the wings, lol) but I had lots of fun in it. Raven was always my favorite in TM:B (besides Bloody Mary and Agent Stone) and I was on a super Twisted Metal kick that year. I need to play that game again. Twisted Metal group, anyone? XD

Pictures:

Fun things: The boots. Again. And the wings, I added the wings because they looked slick and why not -- it was Halloween. I wasn't going for accuracy, hehehe. And the red "KELLY" on my arm, I loved that too. I also added stockings cause it was cold outside. XD
Bad things: The hair. We sprayed some cheapo black spray over my hair really fast. It sort of looked black. But my hair wasn't dark enough or short enough to pass as Raven's. STILL HAD FUN. D:

Worn at: Katsucon '11
Status: Active
Group: w/ a bunch of other 999 cosplayers! :D

Character: I can't profess my love for this game because I have too much of it and it would take too long. I fell in love with this from the moment it booted up on my DS. There's just this evil charm about it - along with an awesome storyline, kickass characters and perfect music. Santa and June were my favorite characters and I was planning on making both of their outfits at some point. I ended up doing Santa first because a friend of mine was planning June - when we both realized we were doing these costumes and both realized we were going to Katsucon, we knew a group had to happen! Draelight ended up playing and loving the game and made a Junpei costumes and plus the three of us we also had an Ace (her bf), a Clover, a Snake and a Seven - who were all friends of theirs. We had so much fun as a group and I was happy that we met up with them because I made a bunch of new friends and we got a slew of amazing photos thanks to Elemental! The ones in the top row from Katsucon were all taken by her. :D

Santa's outfit was a ton of fun to put together. I found a pair of black pants and added all the silver bits to it (along with the chain), sewed the scarf with ended up being super long and the boots. THE BOOTS. I frankensteined so many things to a pair of black boots and had no idea if it would turn out okay or not. By the time I finished, I was really happy with the way they looked. Things usually don't end up looking like I picture them in my head so I was proud of these because they sort of did, hahah~ ;D

Pictures:

Fun things: Even though the wig didn't cooperate half the time, I loved the way it looked. Also, THE BOOTS.
Bad things: Sometimes things would want to come off the boots. It was a quick fix though. They are very heavy though so I clomped around like a horse all day. XD

Worn at: Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2007 - Disney World
Status: Active
Group: N/A

Character: TELL ME YOU REMEMBER THIS NINTENDO GAME. DON'T DENY IT. XD My sister and I always tried to beat this game when we were younger and we just COULD NOT beat the Haunted Mansion and Pirates levels, so years later, before she moved out we sat down UNTIL WE BEAT IT. And then there was a trip planned to Disney World! During their Halloween party! What better costume to wear then THE STUPID KID WHO RUNS THROUGH THE MAGIC KINGDOM COLLECTING KEYS FOR MICKEY MOUSE?! Seriously, check out the awesome cheesiness of it all! My sister and I freaked out when we thought of this costume for the Halloween party. It was such an epic, nostalgic flashback for us and it's WHERE THE GAME TAKES PLACE. That's even more of a score than Kingdom Hearts cosplay in Disney, which is what I was originally planning! XD

Pictures:

Fun things: It was the easiest costume I've ever done, hehe. I didn't get the feet done right (LOOK AT HIS SHOES D:) but then at Disney I found a pair of slippers that look like Mickey Mouse's shoes, so maybe I'll wear this to an actual con one day. I would give anyone five dollars if they recognized me and could sing one of the songs from the game. I still have them all memorized to this day (I actually annoyed the hell out of my sister that night humming them over and over, MUAHAHA~).
Bad things: Nothing! Except the fact that it was raining a little during the Halloween party.

Worn at: Katsucon '03
Status: Retired
Group: N/A

Character: Yohji Kudou from Weiß Kreuz; but not the assassin outfit. The flower shop outfit. With the purple shirt. ^_^ I needed a simple outfit for Friday night at Katsucon that year and I am so in love with Yohji. seriously. He is such a pimp. And of course, I needed to get a fake bouquet of flowers so I could be just like flower shop pimp Yohji. To this day, this is still the only anime costume I have done. This surprises part of me, the other part is like, "Yeah, I can see it." Hehe.

Pictures:

Fun things: It was so simple and comfortable. I loved the earrings. XD
Bad things: Nothing. Everything with this costume was smooth. XD The flowers got sort of annoying to carry after awhile. But that's about it.
